Uva Wellassa University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Librarian. The selected candidate will serve as a full-time officer responsible for the administration and development of the University Library.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Code: U-AC 5 (II)
• Salary Scale:
  • Rs. 198,280 – 13 x 4,850 – 261,330 per month
• Additional Allowances:
  • Academic Allowance – 124% + Rs. 13,300
  • Research Allowance – 21% (based on research activity)
  • Entertainment Allowance – 10%
• Cost of Living Allowance:
  • Rs. 17,800 per month

Government regulations may affect the above allowances and salary structure.

• Administration and management of the University Library
• Supporting academic and research development
• Enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education services
• Contributing to the strategic development of the university library system

Qualifications

Applicants should possess one of the following academic qualifications in Library & Information Sciences:

1. A First or Second Class (Upper Division) Special Degree
   OR
2. A Second Class (Lower Division) Special Degree or First/Second Class (Upper Division) General Degree
   OR
3. A Degree with a Postgraduate Degree in Library & Information Sciences including a research component

AND

• A Master’s Degree in Library & Information Sciences with research component or a Doctoral Degree
• Publications in the field of Library & Information Sciences
• Minimum:
  • 15 years’ experience after first degree OR
  • 10 years’ experience after postgraduate qualification
• Experience in:
  • Librarianship in a recognized library
  • Research in Library & Information Sciences

Other Requirements

• Applicants must be Sri Lankan citizens
• Age should not exceed 45 years
