Job Overview

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Individual Consultant – Consultant Structural Engineer. The selected consultant will lead the Engineering Consultancy Division (ECD) and provide technical leadership for major structural and civil engineering projects.

Assignment Duration

• Initial period of 01 year
• Extendable based on performance and organizational requirements
• Approximately 70 hours per month

About the Role

The selected consultant will provide strategic leadership, advanced technical expertise, and professional oversight for structural and civil engineering designs and construction supervision activities carried out by the Engineering Consultancy Division of UDA.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for structural and civil engineering projects
• Review engineering designs and construction supervision activities
• Coordinate with relevant divisions on engineering consultancy matters
• Support procurement and compliance procedures
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and regulations
• Provide expert guidance on complex structural engineering issues
• Support capacity building within UDA

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (4 years) recognized by UGC and IESL
• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering

Professional Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Chartered Engineer registration with the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka
• Corporate Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL)
• Fellow Member of the Society of Structural Engineers, Sri Lanka
• Registration for High-Rise Buildings (Unlimited) for a minimum of 5 years

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Minimum 25 years of post-graduation experience
• At least 20 years of experience after obtaining Chartered qualification

Proven Experience In:

• Structural and civil engineering design
• Geotechnical engineering design
• Construction supervision and quality control
• Large-scale multidisciplinary projects

Additional Advantages

• Experience in government or state-owned institutions
• Familiarity with government procurement procedures and regulatory requirements

Remuneration

• Monthly remuneration package: LKR 197,500
• Based on Management Services Circular No. 01/2026 (Category A Salary Scale – 50%)
