Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent qualification in Automotive Painting, Auto Body Repair, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive painting, refinishing, or paint rework operations.
- Strong understanding of automotive paint preparation, application, and finishing processes.
- Experience in colour matching, paint mixing, polishing, and paint defect rectification.
- Ability to use painting and refinishing tools and equipment effectively.
- Good understanding of safety procedures and chemical handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform paint rework and touch-up activities according to established procedures and quality requirements.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting through sanding, cleaning, masking, and material application.
- Carry out colour matching and paint mixing activities to achieve consistent paint quality and finish.
- Inspect painted surfaces and identify defects such as scratches, dents, paint imperfections, or contamination.
- Execute corrective actions to ensure vehicles meet customer and quality expectations.
- Operate and maintain spray guns, polishing equipment, sanding tools, and related painting equipment.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of paints, thinners, and related materials.
- Maintain records related to paint rework activities and paint material consumption.
- Follow all standard operating procedures, quality guidelines, and paint shop safety requirements.
- Adhere to workplace safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Coordinate with PDI, Quality Control, and Assembly teams to ensure timely completion of work.
- Support trainee technicians and contribute to team capability development.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and enhance operational efficiency.
