Job Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is inviting applications for the position of Agriculture Field Assistant (Technology & Entrepreneurship/Value Chain) under the Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project. Company Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation with financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project focuses on improving agricultural productivity, strengthening commercial farming, promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing agricultural value chains, and supporting sustainable rural development throughout Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should satisfy one of the following qualification pathways:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or a qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission as equivalent to a degree in the relevant field.
• OR A Certificate of Proficiency not below National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 7 issued by a Technical or Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, together with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• OR A Certificate of Proficiency not below NVQ Level 6 issued by a recognized Technical or Vocational Training Institute together with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• OR A Certificate of Proficiency not below NVQ Level 5 issued by a recognized Technical or Vocational Training Institute together with at least 9 years of relevant experience.

Additional advantages include:

• Experience in agricultural field operations or extension services.
• Knowledge of crop production and sustainable farming practices.
• Experience working on agriculture or rural development projects.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support agricultural field operations at the grassroots level.
• Assist farmers with crop cultivation and agricultural best practices.
• Carry out field supervision activities.
• Collect agricultural and project-related data.
• Handle field equipment and assist with operational activities.
• Coordinate on-site activities with project staff and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate field records and documentation.
• Support agricultural officers and researchers in project implementation.
• Promote efficient farming practices among farming communities.
• Contribute to the successful implementation of Commercial Agriculture Development project activities.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: Category F – Rs. 160,000 – (2 × 7,500) Rs. 175,000
• Government-approved salary scale with applicable allowances.
• Cost of living allowance payable in accordance with relevant government circulars.
• One-year contract renewable annually based on performance and project requirements.
• Opportunity to work on a nationally significant agriculture development programme funded by international development partners.
