The Actuarial Intern will support the actuarial team in data preparation, reporting, actuarial analysis, model development, documentation and data extraction and automation activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Actuarial Science
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Data Science
  • Economics
  • Or a related discipline.
• Competency in one or more statistical and mathematical programming languages such as:
  • R
  • Python
  • SAS
  • Minitab
• Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability and commitment to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in extracting data from policy systems.
• Maintain actuarial databases.
• Support monthly and quarterly actuarial reporting exercises through data preparation and preliminary analysis.
• Support the development and testing of basic actuarial models and analyses for ad hoc management requests.
• Contribute to the documentation of actuarial methodologies, models and business processes.
• Assist in enhancing and maintaining data extraction and automation programmes developed in R.
• Support the actuarial team in data management and analytical activities.
• Assist with risk assessment and other actuarial tasks related to insurance operations.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
• Knowledge of statistical and mathematical programming.
• Experience or familiarity with R, Python, SAS or Minitab.
• Good data visualization skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with actuarial and insurance-related data.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage assigned tasks effectively.
