Qualifications & Requirements

• B.Sc. Nursing Degree or Diploma in General Nursing with valid registration.
• Registration with the Sri Lanka Nursing Council (SLNC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an ICU or Critical Care Unit. Fresh candidates with ICU training may also apply.
• Strong knowledge of critical care nursing principles and ICU protocols.
• Proficiency in operating ICU equipment and patient monitoring devices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) will be an added advantage.
• Compassionate, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, vital signs, and clinical status continuously.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
• Operate and monitor life-support equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and other ICU devices.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and update records in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
• Collaborate with consultants, medical officers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patients’ conditions.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards within the ICU.
• Educate and support patients’ families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and critical care procedures.
• Ensure effective handover and continuity of patient care during shift changes.
