Job Overview

Sugarcane Research Institute is inviting applications for the position of Management Assistant (Accounts) under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in accounting and financial administration activities.
• Maintain financial records, ledgers, and accounting documentation.
• Support preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Handle payment processing and account reconciliation activities.
• Maintain accurate institutional financial records and filing systems.
• Support audit and compliance-related functions.
• Assist management with administrative and accounting duties.

Required Qualifications

External Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in six subjects at one sitting including:
  • Sinhala/Tamil
  • English Language
  • Mathematics

with credit passes for relevant subjects.

AND

• Passed at least three subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination excluding the General Test.

AND

• A recognized accounting-related qualification will be considered an added advantage.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Required educational qualifications

AND

• Satisfactory service in a related post within the institute.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Accounting or finance-related experience
• Computerized accounting knowledge
• Government sector accounting experience
• Knowledge of MS Office and accounting software

• Financial record management
• Computer literacy
• Communication and coordination abilities
• Attention to detail
• Organizational and administrative skills

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years

(Upper age limit will not apply to internal candidates and applicants from Government Departments, Corporations, and Statutory Boards.)

Salary Scale

Salary will be paid according to the approved Management Services Circular applicable to the post.

Additional government-approved allowances will also be applicable.
