Job Overview

Sugarcane Research Institute is inviting applications for the post of Principal Research Officer (HM 1-1) under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.

The appointment will be based at the Sugarcane Research Institute, Uda Walawe.

Qualifications

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A four-year Degree in:
  • Agriculture
  • Science
  • Engineering
• Degree obtained with a class from a university recognized by the U.G.C.

AND

• A PhD Degree in a relevant field from a recognized university

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in research and development in a recognized institution
• At least 5 years should be after obtaining the PhD qualification
• Proven research publications and contributions to the relevant field

Internal Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A PhD qualification in a relevant discipline

AND

• Minimum 5 years satisfactory service as a Senior Research Officer in the Sugarcane Research Institute

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and research capabilities
• Ability to conduct and manage scientific research projects
• Leadership and supervisory skills
• Experience in research publication and technology transfer activities

Age Limit

For HM 1-1 Salary Category:

• Minimum Age: 30 years
• Maximum Age: 45 years

(Upper age limit will not apply to internal candidates and applicants from Government Departments, Corporations, and Statutory Boards.)

Salary Scale

HM 1-1 – 2025

• Salary Scale: Rs. 91,645 – 10×2,480 – 15×3,450 – 168,235/-

Initial Salary Step

• Salary placement will be according to Management Services Circular provisions.

Selection Method

Selection will be through a structured interview.
