Job Overview

Sugarcane Research Institute has called for applications for the post of Deputy Director (Research & Technology Transfer) (HM 1-3) under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.

The position is based at the Sugarcane Research Institute, Uda Walawe.

Qualifications

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A four-year degree in:
  • Science
  • Agriculture
  • Engineering
• Degree should be obtained with a class from a university recognized by the U.G.C.

AND

• A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of research and management experience in a recognized organization
• At least 8 years should be after obtaining the PhD
• Experience at senior research/managerial level with a proven track record

Internal Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A PhD Degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university

AND

• Minimum 5 years post-qualifying experience as a Senior Research Officer

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and management skills
• Ability to direct multidisciplinary research teams
• Experience in deployment and management of human and institutional resources will be an added advantage

Age Limit

For HM 1-3 Salary Category:

• Minimum Age: 35 years
• Maximum Age: 55 years

(Upper age limit will not apply to internal candidates and applicants from Government Departments, Corporations, and Statutory Boards.)

Salary Scale

HM 1-3 – 2025

• Salary Scale: Rs. 152,500 – 15×4,100 – 214,000/-

Initial Salary Step

• Rs. 133,028/-
• Unpaid Amount: Rs. 19,472/-

Selection Method

Selection will be based on a structured interview.
