Job Description

The Director of PGIMS will be responsible for the overall administration, academic leadership, and financial management of the Institute. The selected candidate will also serve as:

• Principal Executive Officer
• Principal Academic Officer
• Accounting Officer of the Institute
• Chairman of the Board of Management
• Ex-officio member of each Board of Study

The appointment is for a period of three years.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic academic and administrative leadership
• Oversee institutional management and governance
• Lead academic development and postgraduate medical education
• Chair the Board of Management
• Support multidisciplinary academic collaboration
• Ensure institutional growth and community engagement
• Maintain high standards of academic excellence and professionalism

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should:

• Be citizens of Sri Lanka
• Be below 63 years of age by the closing date
• Possess:
  • Board Certification

OR

• Doctoral Qualification (PhD or equivalent) in a medical specialty
• Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Experience in administering an academic entity will be an added advantage
• Demonstrate commitment to academic leadership and institutional development

2. Personal statement outlining:
   • Vision for the development of the Institute
   • Proposed contributions if appointed as Director
3. Letter from employer confirming release eligibility (for applicants serving in Public Service, Corporations, Statutory Bodies, or Higher Educational Institutions)

Salary & Allowances

The Director will be entitled to salary and other allowances applicable to the post according to university regulations.
