Job Description

The Mechanic will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of machinery, vehicles, and heavy equipment operated by the authority. The role requires hands-on technical expertise and the ability to diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out repair and maintenance of vehicles and heavy machinery
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform corrective actions
• Ensure proper servicing and upkeep of equipment
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities
• Follow safety procedures and operational guidelines
• Support engineering and technical teams in field operations

Requirements

Educational Qualifications

• Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination with a minimum of six subjects, including Sinhala/Tamil, English, and Mathematics

Technical Qualifications

• Completed a technical training course in a relevant field such as:
  • Automobile repair
  • Diesel/petrol engine mechanics
  • Heavy machinery maintenance
• Qualification must be recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC)
• NVQ Level 4 or above in a relevant field

Experience

• Previous experience in vehicle or machinery repair will be an added advantage

Age Limit

• Between 18 – 35 years

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: PL 2-2-2025
  40,920 – 10×435 – 6,350 – 4×780 – 18×1,080 – 74,580 + allowances
