Job Overview

Vallibel One PLC is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Engineer – IoT & Automation to support its Supply Chain and Business Excellence team. This role offers graduates and final-year students an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, industrial automation, production dashboards, and AI initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic, Industrial/Production, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Recent graduates and final-year students are encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of industrial automation technologies, including sensors, PLCs, gateways, and SCADA/HMI concepts.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and structured data management.
• Ability to understand technical documentation and vendor proposals.
• Exposure to industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, OPC-UA, or Modbus is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Navision will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, or other dashboarding tools is desirable.
• Exposure to a manufacturing environment through internships or projects is an advantage.
• Strong project coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently to manufacturing plants across Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

• Support IoT parameter mapping, gateway implementation, and machine data integration across manufacturing plants.
• Assist in automation project planning, implementation, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Support data-source mapping and tagging for production dashboards and reporting platforms.
• Ensure accurate and structured data preparation for AI and analytics initiatives.
• Coordinate with technology vendors and internal stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
• Prepare project documentation, technical reports, and progress updates.
• Travel to manufacturing plants across Sri Lanka to support project implementation and monitoring.
