Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A valid Certificate of Competency as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch on ships less than 500 GT engaged on Near Coastal Voyages (NCV), issued by or recognized by the Director General of Merchant Shipping of Sri Lanka, or issued by the Maritime Administration of a Commonwealth country.
• OR Any higher valid Certificate of Competency issued by or recognized by the Director General of Merchant Shipping of Sri Lanka or the Maritime Administration of a Commonwealth country.
• Minimum 2 years of seagoing experience as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.
• Applicants should be below 45 years of age. This age limit does not apply to employees of Government Departments or State Corporations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in tugboat navigation and vessel maneuvering operations.
• Support safe berthing, unberthing, and towing of vessels.
• Maintain navigational watch in accordance with maritime regulations.
• Ensure compliance with marine safety procedures and operational standards.
• Coordinate with harbour pilots and port control during tug operations.
• Maintain operational records and voyage documentation.
• Assist in emergency response and marine support operations.
• Perform duties assigned by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority related to tug services.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Category: 5:0 (Junior Level Management).
• Basic Salary: Rs. 75,065 per month.
• Annual Increment: Rs. 1,440.
• Approximate Gross Monthly Salary: Rs. 170,000, inclusive of allowances.
• Additional benefits as per Sri Lanka Ports Authority regulations.
