Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (Private) Limited is seeking an experienced professional to join its team as Manager – Microbiology. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing microbiology laboratory activities, maintaining quality standards, supervising staff and ensuring efficient laboratory operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Registered candidate of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).
• M.Sc. in a related area will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Good computer literacy.
• Effective communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Positive attitude in dealing with people.
• Basic clinical knowledge around collection of samples for the relevant test list will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all microbiology laboratory activities, including sample acceptance, processing and reporting.
• Handle urgent specimens and ensure timely review and release of results within TAT.
• Allocate staff across benches and maintain a smooth specimen processing flow.
• Supervise culture media preparation, plating, culture reading, ELISA and other serological, microbiology and immunology tests.
• Support quality assurance and quality management activities, including SOP documentation and CAP-related compliance.
• Maintain inventory and stock registers and coordinate purchase requests for consumables and reagents.
• Coordinate outsourced laboratory testing processes, including collection, transport, recording and reporting.
• Ensure maintenance of records, equipment, quality standards, biosafety and laboratory waste management practices.
• Train, orient and supervise trainees and subordinate technical staff.
• Perform delegated duties, research-related work where applicable and other responsibilities assigned by the Head of Laboratories.

• Strong microbiology laboratory management skills.
• Leadership and staff supervision capabilities.
• Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and quality management.
• Understanding of SOP documentation and CAP-related compliance.
• Ability to manage urgent specimens and laboratory turnaround times.

• Knowledge of biosafety and laboratory waste management practices.
