Qualifications & Experience

Candidates applying for the Manager – Legal & Compliance position should meet the following requirements:

• Admission as an Attorney-at-Law.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Previous experience in the insurance, banking or financial services sector will be preferred.
• Practical experience in legal, regulatory and compliance matters within a corporate environment.
• Familiarity with the insurance industry and regulatory requirements of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) will be an added advantage.
• Hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) frameworks.
• Experience in statutory reporting will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The Manager – Legal & Compliance will be responsible for supporting and managing the organization’s legal, regulatory and compliance functions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and manage the company’s lease portfolio.
• Support the Department Head in meeting regulatory reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
• Manage Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism frameworks.
• Oversee sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and statutory reporting.
• Draft, review and update internal policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Conduct compliance audits and monitor the implementation of corrective actions.
• Provide legal advice to business units and support informed business decision-making.
• Monitor and assess emerging regulatory developments and their potential impact on the organization.
• Support effective corporate governance and regulatory compliance practices.
• Assist in strengthening internal controls and compliance processes.

Required Skills

• Proven managerial and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
