Qualifications & Experience
- Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Bachelor’s Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized university or degree-awarding institute in one or more of the following fields:
- Environmental Management
- Sustainability Management
- Business Administration
- Finance or Banking
- Economics
- Risk Management
- Accounting
- Law
- Social Science
- Any other related discipline
- Certificate or Diploma in ESG or Sustainability from a recognized professional body.
- A Master’s Degree in Sustainability, ESG, Finance, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Professional qualifications from recognized institutions such as:
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute
- Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) will be an added advantage.
- Certifications or training in:
- ESG Reporting Frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, IFRS Sustainability Standards)
- Corporate Governance
- Sustainable Finance
- Climate Risk or Environmental Risk Management
- Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
- Minimum of 1–5 years of post-degree experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate governance, risk management, compliance, banking, finance, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of ESG principles, sustainable banking practices, regulatory guidelines, ESG reporting standards, and environmental and social risk assessment methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Bank’s ESG strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Coordinate ESG initiatives across departments to promote organization-wide ESG integration.
- Monitor and report on environmental, social, and governance performance in accordance with national and international ESG standards.
- Lead the preparation of ESG disclosures, sustainability reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Act as the primary contact for ESG-related engagements with regulators, investors, and rating agencies.
- Facilitate ESG awareness programs, staff training, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Monitor emerging ESG trends and regulatory developments while recommending continuous improvements.
- Support the Bank’s environmental and social commitments, including carbon footprint reduction, workplace diversity, and governance transparency.
- Standardize ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Monitor ESG performance indicators and track progress toward sustainability goals.
