Organization Overview

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) is an independent institution established under the Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act No. 14 of 2016. The organization is responsible for addressing matters related to missing and disappeared persons in Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A Degree in Law, Criminology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Social Science, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Political Science, or a related field recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations, inquiries, and tracing activities related to missing and disappeared persons.
• Maintain complete and updated case files.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting throughout investigations.
• Liaise with institutions such as the Sri Lanka Police, Armed Forces, hospitals, and government registries.
• Obtain necessary information and official records relevant to investigations.
• Prepare timely and accurate investigation reports.
• Review, update, and compile inquiry documentation.
• Maintain proper case data and complaint files.
• Perform other duties assigned by senior management.

• Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
• Research and information-gathering skills.
• Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
• Communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Computer literacy and knowledge of transitional justice will be an added advantage.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale:
JM 1-1 2025 – Rs. 72,650 – 10×1,360 – 18×2,040 – Rs. 122,970.
