Job Overview

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Communication Officer. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, managing digital and media content, increasing public awareness, and supporting stakeholder engagement activities.

Organization Overview

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) is an independent institution established under the Office on Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act No. 14 of 2016. The institution is mandated to address issues related to missing and disappeared persons in Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media or Mass Communication recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies to promote organizational objectives and activities.
• Manage content across digital, social, and print media platforms.
• Increase public awareness and stakeholder engagement.
• Ensure all communications align with organizational branding and messaging.
• Build and maintain relationships with media organizations and key stakeholders.
• Identify and engage target audiences effectively.
• Support digital communication projects and manage related timelines and budgets.
• Travel to field offices when required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.

• Strong communication and public relations skills.
• Content creation and media management abilities.
• Digital marketing and social media knowledge.
• Stakeholder engagement and networking skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Sound knowledge of transitional justice will be an added advantage.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale:
JM 1-1 2025 – Rs. 72,650 – 10×1,360 – 18×2,040 – Rs. 122,970.
