Job Overview

About the Organization
The Right to Information Commission was established under the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016 to promote transparency, accountability, and citizens’ access to information in Sri Lanka.
Job Description
The Director (Legal) will be responsible for handling legal matters related to the Commission, including legal representation, legal advisory functions, and matters before higher courts.
The ideal candidate should possess strong legal expertise, extensive litigation experience, and professional qualifications relevant to the legal field.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should:
- Have taken oaths as an Attorney-at-Law before the Supreme Court
- Possess a Postgraduate qualification (Master of Laws or relevant qualification in the legal field)
- Have a minimum of 13 years of experience in the legal field relevant to the post
- Possess experience appearing before:
- Supreme Court
- Court of Appeal
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 35 Years
- Maximum Age: 55 Years
Salary Scale
HM 1-1 – 2025
Rs. 140,640 – 15 x 4,100 – 202,140
📌 Salaries will be paid according to Management Services Department Circular No. 01/2025.

Selection will be based on a Structured Interview with the following marking scheme:

General Conditions
- Government and statutory board employees should apply through Heads of Institutions
- Selected candidates will be subject to Government Language Policy regulations
- Employees will contribute:
- 12% to Employee Provident Fund (EPF)
- 3% to Employee Trust Fund (ETF)
- Medical insurance coverage under Agrahara Insurance Scheme will be provided
- Government-approved allowances are applicable
