FPA Sri Lanka is a leading national NGO and an accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). The organization has been providing sexual and reproductive health and family planning services in Sri Lanka since 1953 and works extensively in public health research, advocacy, and community engagement.
Research Project Overview
The consultancy supports a research study titled:
“Awareness, Help-Seeking and Barriers to Medical Services for Breast and Cervical Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study Among Female Factory Workers in the Wathupitiwala Export Processing Zone.”
The project is funded by IPPF London and focuses on improving understanding of healthcare accessibility, awareness, and service utilization among female factory workers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in managing or coordinating research projects or public health/social intervention projects
- Prior experience in field research data collection is required
- Experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health research is an added advantage
- Ability to develop work plans and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Experience in budgeting and resource management for projects
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods including KIIs, FGDs, and one-to-one interviews
- Understanding of gender, sexuality, rights issues, and gender-based violence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Sinhala
- Tamil language proficiency will be an added advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate participant recruitment and survey administration activities
- Conduct key informant interviews and manage interview transcriptions
- Coordinate research implementation activities according to project timelines
- Monitor progress and ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule
- Ensure ethical compliance and safeguarding procedures during all field activities
- Maintain quality standards in data collection and transcription processes
- Prepare regular reports and maintain project documentation
- Liaise with factory management, government stakeholders, NGOs, and healthcare stakeholders
- Support field coordination within the Wathupitiwala Export Processing Zone
