Job Responsibilities

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for:

• Assisting Senior Design Engineers and Civil Engineering Specialists while guiding Technical Officers in supervising field construction and rehabilitation works
• Conducting site inspections and verifying progress of project interventions
• Collecting technical data, preparing field measurements, and verifying contractors’ quantities
• Supporting quality control activities including concrete testing, soil compaction, and material sampling
• Preparing sketches, field notes, and progress photographs for project documentation
• Participating in the preparation of interim payment certificates and monthly progress summaries
• Organizing and conducting site meetings and progress review discussions
• Assisting with grievance redress activities at field level
• Supporting engineering consultancy and infrastructure development activities

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
• SLES Class 111 Engineer in Civil Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in the related field may also apply
• Associate Membership of IESL will be considered an added advantage
• Minimum 2 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects
• Experience in donor-funded rural development projects will be preferred
• Knowledge of project planning, investigation, design, supervision, and quality control
• Experience in preparation of BOQs and bidding documents
• Familiarity with Sri Lankan construction standards
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of engineering design software and field-based project environments
• Strong communication and leadership skills will be considered an advantage
