Educational Qualifications

External Candidates

Applicants should possess one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1

• A Proficiency Certificate not below National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2, issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), relevant to Pharmaceutical Packaging.

Option 2

• Passed 6 subjects at the G.C.E. O/L Examination.
• Obtained 4 Credit passes, including:
  • Sinhala/Tamil
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English
• Minimum 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical packaging.

Trainee Recruitment

Candidates who have:

• Passed 6 subjects at the G.C.E. O/L Examination.
• Obtained 4 Credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil, Mathematics, Science and English.

may be recruited as trainees.

Trainees must complete 1 year of in-house training as a Trainee Pharmaceutical Complete Aide at SPMC before being absorbed into the permanent cadre as a Pharmaceutical Complete Aide.

Internal Candidates

Internal candidates may qualify through either of the following pathways:

• Possessing the qualifications required for external candidates; or
• Being an employee in the Unskilled Level with a minimum of 5 years of working experience in the relevant field, with skills not below NVQ Level 2, proven through a trade test.

Salary

Salary Scale: PL-2
Rs. 42,300 – 10 × Rs. 490 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 10 × Rs. 590 – 12 × Rs. 630 – Rs. 66,060

According to Schedule II of MSD Circular No. 01/2025, the basic salary of Rs. 42,300/- will be paid from 01 January 2027, while the starting salary point for 2026 is Rs. 40,008/-.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 45 years
• The upper age limit does not apply to internal applicants.
