Position Details

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services for the National Child Protection Authority and carrying out driving-related duties assigned by the Authority.

The position is classified under the PL 3 salary grade and has 02 vacancies.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination, with at least two Credit Passes, in not more than two sittings.
• A valid driving licence issued by the Commissioner General, Department of Motor Traffic, authorizing the candidate to drive heavy vehicles.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles after obtaining the driving licence.

Internal Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A valid driving licence issued by the Commissioner General, Department of Motor Traffic, authorizing the candidate to drive heavy vehicles.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in driving heavy vehicles after obtaining the driving licence.
• Completion of a minimum of 5 years of satisfactory service in a post in the category of Unskilled (PL 1).

Key Responsibilities

The Driver will be expected to:

• Drive vehicles assigned by the National Child Protection Authority safely and responsibly.
• Transport officers, staff and authorized persons as required.
• Ensure the safe transportation of passengers and official materials.
• Operate heavy vehicles in accordance with applicable traffic laws and regulations.
• Carry out routine checks of assigned vehicles.
• Report vehicle defects and maintenance requirements to the relevant authorities.
• Maintain proper records relating to vehicle use and assigned journeys.
• Ensure vehicles are kept in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Perform other driving-related duties assigned by the Authority.

Required Skills

Candidates should possess:

• Valid heavy vehicle driving licence.
• Proven experience in driving heavy vehicles.
• Good knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.
• Safe and responsible driving skills.
• Ability to carry out basic vehicle checks.
• Good punctuality and reliability.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours when required.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale: PL 3 – 01/2025

Salary: Rs. 43,280 – 10 × Rs. 490 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 10 × Rs. 1,070 – Rs. 64,780 per month.

Basic Salary as at 01 January 2027: Rs. 43,280.

Other applicable allowances and benefits will be provided according to the relevant conditions of service.

Important Notes

• Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
• Number of Vacancies: 02.
• External candidates must have passed six G.C.E. (O/L) subjects, including at least two Credit Passes, in not more than two sittings.
• A valid heavy vehicle driving licence issued by the Commissioner General, Department of Motor Traffic is required.
• External candidates require at least 3 years of heavy vehicle driving experience after obtaining the driving licence.
• Internal candidates require at least 5 years of satisfactory service in the Unskilled (PL 1) category, in addition to the specified driving requirements.
• Applicants should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age. The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates.
• Selected candidates may be required to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Recruitment for the Driver position will be conducted through a Trade Test and Structured Interview.
• Applicants should have excellent moral character and be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.
• Applications must include certified copies of the required certificates and documents.
• Two non-related referees should be provided.
