Job Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is inviting applications for the position of Driver under the Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project. This opportunity is ideal for experienced and responsible drivers who can ensure the safe transportation of project personnel while maintaining project vehicles in excellent condition and complying with all traffic regulations.

Company Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation with financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project supports sustainable agricultural development, infrastructure improvement, and rural livelihood enhancement across Sri Lanka through internationally funded development initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with at least six subjects, including two Credit Passes, in not more than two sittings.
• Must have passed Sinhala or Tamil Language at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination.
• Hold a valid Sri Lankan Driving Licence for Class B (Private or Hiring Vehicles) or Vehicle Classes C and C1.
• The driving licence should have been issued at least three years before the recruitment date.
• Possess a minimum of five years of experience as a vehicle driver.
• Good knowledge of Sri Lankan traffic regulations and safe driving practices will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport project staff and authorized personnel.
• Follow all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and organizational transport policies.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle in clean and roadworthy condition.
• Wash and clean both the interior and exterior of the vehicle regularly.
• Maintain vehicle records including the log book, service book, and running charts.
• Report vehicle defects, maintenance requirements, and accidents promptly.
• Ensure timely servicing and routine maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
• Carry out transport duties as instructed by the Transport Officer or other authorized supervisors.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: PL 3 – 2025 Grade III
• Salary will be paid in accordance with MSD Circular No. 02/2026 and Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025.
• Cost of living allowance will be paid in addition to the approved salary.
• One-year contract renewable annually based on performance and project requirements.
• Opportunity to work on a nationally important agriculture development programme funded by international development partners.
