Job Summary

The selected candidate will work as an MEP Quantity Surveyor for the Main Contractor of the Colombo Port City Development Project.

The primary responsibility involves supporting the design and construction of infrastructure and landscape works while managing quantity surveying functions related to MEP systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for MEP works
• Reviewing:
  • Drawings
  • Specifications
  • Contract documents related to MEP systems
• Monitoring project costs and controlling MEP budgets
• Measuring and certifying completed MEP works on-site
• Conducting cost analysis and value engineering for MEP systems and materials
• Maintaining records of:
  • Contracts
  • Payments
  • Variations
  • Project costs
• Coordinating with:
  • Project engineers
  • Consultants
  • Subcontractors
  • Suppliers
• Ensuring MEP works comply with project specifications and contract requirements
• Monitoring subcontractor performance and payment status
• Ensuring compliance with:
  • Company procedures
  • Contractual obligations
  • FIDIC standards
• Supporting interim valuations and progress claims submissions
• Evaluating material submittals and conducting cost analysis for installations

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• BSc in Quantity Surveying or Diploma in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in:
  • MEP projects
  • Building services
  • Infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of:
  • MEP systems
  • Construction methods
  • Commercial procedures
  • Methods of measurements
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MEP quantity surveying
• Knowledge of:
  • CESMM4
  • MS Excel
  • AutoCAD
  • QS software such as:
    • CostX
    • PlanSwift
• Familiarity with FIDIC contract rules
• Excellent:
  • Analytical skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
