The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is seeking qualified and experienced maritime professionals for the position of Marine Pilot. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pilotage services and ensuring the safe navigation of vessels within Sri Lankan ports.

Qualifications & Experience

Eligibility

Applicants should possess:

• A valid Certificate of Competency as Master (Unlimited) issued by:
  • The Director General of Merchant Shipping of Sri Lanka, or
  • The Maritime Administration of India, or
  • The Maritime Administration of Australia.

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of sea-going experience as a Master on a foreign merchant vessel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pilotage services for vessels entering and leaving ports.
• Ensure safe navigation within harbor limits.
• Coordinate with port authorities, vessel masters, and operational teams.
• Maintain compliance with maritime safety regulations and operational standards.
• Support efficient port operations and vessel movements.

Required Skills

• Strong maritime navigation knowledge.
• Ship handling and pilotage expertise.
• Understanding of international maritime regulations.
• Decision-making under pressure.
• Communication and coordination skills.
• Safety and risk management capabilities.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Package

• Salary Category: 3:3 (SLM 3)
• Basic Salary: Rs. 109,215 per month
• Annual Increment: Rs. 1,945
• Approximate Gross Salary: Rs. 204,500 per month (inclusive of allowances)
