Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) is affiliated with the Vocational Education Division of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education and is one of Sri Lanka’s leading technical and vocational training institutes.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A proficiency certificate not below National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4
• Qualification must be issued by a technical/vocational training institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC)
• Qualification should be relevant to the Carpenter trade

Internal Candidates

Applicants should either:

• Possess qualifications required for external candidates

OR

• Be employees in Primary Level Unskilled (PL-1) category with:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Skills not below NVQ Level 2
  • Proven through a trade test

Salary Scale

According to DMS Circular No. 01/2025:

PL 3 – Rs. 43,280 – 490×10 – 540×10 – 590×10 – 630×12 – Rs. 67,040

Current Salary as at 01.01.2026

• Rs. 40,834.00
• Government approved allowances will also be paid

Method of Recruitment

Selection will be based on:

• Trade Test
• Structured Interview

Age Limit

• Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years as at the closing date of applications
• Upper age limit does not apply for internal candidates

General Conditions

Applicants should:

• Be citizens of Sri Lanka
• Be physically and mentally fit
• Possess excellent moral character
• Be willing to serve in any part of the island

Employment Conditions

• External recruits will be on probation for 3 years
• Internal appointees will undergo an acting period of 1 year
• Recruitment will be on the starting salary step

EPF & ETF Contributions

• Employee contribution to EPF: 8%
• Institution contribution to EPF: 12%
• Institution contribution to ETF: 3%
