The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) invites applications from qualified personnel for appointment as Visiting Lecturers for the academic year 2026 – 1st Semester. Applications are invited for subjects offered under the Higher National Diploma programmes conducted at SLIATE Advanced Technological Institutes (ATIs).

Applicants should clearly state the subject(s) and ATI(s) for which they are applying. Preference will be given to visiting lecturers who are willing to deliver lectures at the respective ATI and contribute to paper setting and paper marking. Preference may also be given to suitably qualified applicants from the respective district or province.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) is an institution under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education. SLIATE conducts Higher National Diploma programmes through its network of Advanced Technological Institutes located in different parts of Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess educational and professional qualifications relevant to the subject they intend to teach.

The vacancy notice specifies the following qualification and experience categories:

• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience without a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field.
• A Basic Degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• A Basic Degree with a Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s Degree, together with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
• Engineering Professionals (Chartered Engineers) are also eligible under the specified category.
• All educational and professional qualifications should be relevant to the subject undertaken by the Visiting Lecturer.
• Applicants with foreign degrees must provide the required University Grants Commission (UGC) accreditation/equivalence documentation for consideration.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures for subjects offered under the relevant Higher National Diploma programmes.
• Conduct teaching activities according to the academic requirements of the respective ATI.
• Prepare and deliver appropriate academic and learning materials.
• Provide students with relevant academic guidance and subject knowledge.
• Contribute to question paper setting where required.
• Participate in paper marking activities where required.
• Fulfil academic duties assigned by the relevant ATI.
• Conduct lectures at the respective ATI according to the academic requirements and schedule.

• Strong subject knowledge in the relevant HND discipline.
• Excellent teaching and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate complex subject matter clearly.
• Good academic and professional communication skills.
• Ability to prepare effective lectures and learning materials.
• Ability to contribute to examination-related activities.
• Relevant professional and practical experience.
• Ability to work according to the academic schedule of the respective ATI.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students and academic staff.

Salary & Benefits

Approved hourly allowances are based on the qualification and experience of the Visiting Lecturer:

• Minimum 5 years teaching experience without a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field: Rs. 1,000 per hour.
• Basic Degree in the relevant field with minimum 5 years of experience: Rs. 1,500 per hour.
• Basic Degree + Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s Degree with minimum 5 years of experience in the relevant field: Rs. 2,000 per hour.
• Engineering Professionals (Chartered Engineer): Rs. 2,000 per hour.

A copy of the application should also be emailed to the relevant ATI email address specified in the vacancy notice.
