Job Description

SDB Bank PLC is a licensed specialized bank regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, with a strong network of branches across the island. The bank is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join its team as Manager – Compliance.

The role is responsible for supporting the creation and maintenance of a robust AML/CFT/CPF compliance framework, ensuring that bank operations comply with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily transactions through the Bank’s AML systems and scrutinize transactions for potential suspicious activity.
• Develop Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) in coordination with branches.
• Conduct awareness sessions for branch staff on AML/CFT/CPF functions, including KYC, sanctions screening, beneficial ownership identification, PEP identification, CDD, EDD, and suspicious transaction monitoring.
• Liaise with relevant departments to resolve AML-related compliance issues.
• Review and update AML-related policies annually.
• Maintain and communicate updated PEP lists.
• Conduct CDD/EDD and ensure effective implementation, continuous monitoring, and enhancement of AML systems and procedures.
• Conduct annual bank-wide risk-based ML/TF/PF assessments.
• Carry out compliance testing within defined timelines.
• Lead compliance reviews across branches.
• Assess and evaluate risk ratings of branches, departments, and customers.
• Report compliance review findings to relevant committees.
• Ensure timely follow-up on compliance actions, review findings, and training programmes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the banking or financial sector.
• DABF / UGC-recognized or approved degree, or a full professional qualification in Banking & Finance, Business Management, or another relevant field.
• At least 3 years of experience handling AML/CFT-related compliance matters in a bank or other financial institution at Senior Executive or above level will be an added advantage.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn existing and emerging compliance regulations and guidelines.
