Position Details

The Lecturer (Probationary) will be responsible for teaching and academic activities related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the University College of Batangala.

The vacancy notice lists 02 vacancies under the Senior Lecturer Grade II / Lecturer (Probationary) – Information and Communication Technology category.

The appointment is permanent and carries entitlement to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF).

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants for the Lecturer (Probationary) position should satisfy one of the following qualification routes:

Qualification Route 1

• A Degree with specialization in the relevant subject with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) Honours.

Qualification Route 2

• A Degree with specialization in the relevant subject with Second Class (Lower Division) Honours.
• At least 1 year of experience in teaching, research, professional work in a recognized mercantile establishment, or postgraduate studies in a recognized University or Higher Education Institution.

Qualification Route 3

• A Degree with specialization in the relevant subject without Honours or another general degree with at least Second-Class Honours.
• A Postgraduate Degree of at least 2 academic years in the relevant subject with a research component through a thesis or dissertation.

Qualification Route 4

• A Degree or equivalent professional qualification offered or recognized by a professional institution established by an Act of Parliament of Sri Lanka in the relevant subject.
• A one-year Master’s Degree in the relevant subject or equivalent further professional qualification.
• For external applicants, 5 years of professional experience after graduation or obtaining the relevant professional qualification.
• For internal applicants, 5 years of teaching or library experience after graduation or obtaining the relevant professional qualification in a recognized Higher Educational Institution.

Qualification Route 5

• A Degree or equivalent professional qualification offered or recognized by a professional institution established by an Act of Parliament of Sri Lanka in the relevant subject.
• At least 8 years of professional and/or teaching experience after graduation or obtaining the relevant professional qualification.

Key Responsibilities

The Lecturer (Probationary) will be expected to:

• Conduct lectures and academic activities in Information and Communication Technology.
• Provide teaching and learning support to students.
• Conduct practical and instructional activities related to ICT.
• Prepare teaching materials and academic resources.
• Support student learning and academic development.
• Participate in academic and institutional activities.
• Contribute to teaching, research and other relevant academic activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the University College authorities.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale: U-AC 3 – 2025

Salary: Rs. 94,400 – 10 × Rs. 2,400 – 13 × Rs. 2,940 – 8 × Rs. 3,900 – Rs. 187,820 per month.

Basic Salary for Lecturer (Probationary) as at 1 January 2026: Rs. 83,970 per month.

Cost of Living Allowance and other applicable allowances for the post are also included according to the applicable provisions.
