Position Details

The Deputy General Manager (Finance) will be responsible for senior-level financial and managerial functions within the State Timber Corporation. The position requires a relevant degree or recognized professional membership, postgraduate or professional qualifications, and extensive managerial-level experience.

The State Timber Corporation is a state-owned organization operating under the Ministry of Environment and engaged in activities related to Sri Lanka’s timber industry.

The position is based at the State Timber Corporation’s administration office in Battaramulla, Colombo District.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet one of the following qualification routes:

Qualification Route 1

• A Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Commerce, Business Administration or Management recognized by the University Grants Commission.
• A Master’s Degree in the relevant field OR Associate Membership of a recognized Chartered Professional Institution relevant to the subject area of the post.
• Minimum 15 years of experience at Managerial Level in a Corporation, Statutory Board, Institution or recognized private sector organization after obtaining the first degree qualification.

Qualification Route 2

• Full Membership of a recognized Chartered Professional Institution relevant to the subject area of the post.
• Minimum 15 years of experience at Managerial Level in a Corporation, Statutory Board, Institution or recognized private sector organization after obtaining the first degree qualifications.
• Minimum 5 years of experience at Senior Managerial Level.

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy General Manager (Finance) will be expected to:

• Manage and coordinate financial functions of the State Timber Corporation.
• Support senior management in financial planning and decision-making.
• Oversee financial and accounting activities.
• Monitor financial performance and related administrative functions.
• Ensure effective financial management and control procedures.
• Prepare and review financial information and reports.
• Coordinate financial activities with relevant departments and management.
• Support the implementation of organizational policies and financial procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Corporation.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale: HM 1-2 – 2025

Salary: Rs. 143,120 – 15 × Rs. 4,100 – Rs. 204,620 per month.

The salary is applicable according to Schedule II of Management Services Circular No. 01/2025, effective from 01 January 2025.
