1. General Manager

External Candidates – Pathway 1

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Business Management, Production Engineering or another relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission.
• A Master’s Degree in a relevant field or Corporate Membership of a recognized Professional Chartered Institute relevant to the position.
• At least 18 years of managerial-level experience after obtaining the first degree, including at least five years at senior managerial level.
• A proven track record in a Corporation, Statutory Board or reputed mercantile establishment.

External Candidates – Pathway 2

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission.
• A PhD in a relevant field.
• At least five years of senior managerial experience after obtaining the first degree, with a proven management track record in a Corporation, Statutory Board or reputed mercantile establishment.

Internal Candidates

• At least five years of satisfactory service in a Senior Manager (HM) category position relevant to the post.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and efficiently manage human and other resources.

2. Personal Secretary

External Candidates

Applicants must satisfy one of the following pathways:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission.

OR

• A Diploma or Higher Diploma in a relevant field with a course duration of at least one year.
• At least five years of post-qualifying experience in a relevant field in a Corporation, Board or reputed Statutory Institution.

Internal Candidates

• Possess the qualifications required of external candidates.

OR

• Have completed at least five years of satisfactory service in the Management Assistant – Non-Technological (MA 1-1) Grade II category in a relevant subject area.

3. Training & Development Officer

External Candidates

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, Public Administration or Commerce recognized by the University Grants Commission.

Internal Candidates

Applicants must satisfy one of the following:

• Possess the qualifications required of external candidates.

OR

• Have completed at least five years of satisfactory service in the Management Assistant – Non-Technological (MA 1-1) Grade II category in a relevant subject area.

4. Engineering Assistant (Computer Hardware)

External Candidates

Applicants must satisfy one of the following four qualification pathways:

Pathway 1

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering recognized by the University Grants Commission.

Pathway 2

• A certificate of proficiency in Computer Hardware at NVQ Level 7 or above, issued by a technical or vocational training institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Pathway 3

• A certificate of proficiency in Computer Hardware at NVQ Level 6 or above from a TVEC-accepted technical or vocational training institute.
• At least five years of post-qualifying experience in a relevant field in a Corporation, Board or reputed Statutory Institution.

Pathway 4

• A certificate of proficiency in Computer Hardware at NVQ Level 5 or above from a TVEC-accepted technical or vocational training institute.
• At least ten years of post-qualifying experience in a relevant field in a Corporation, Board or reputed Statutory Institution.

Internal Candidates

• Possess the qualifications required of external candidates.

General Manager

The General Manager serves as the highest-level executive officer of SPMC and is responsible for the Corporation’s overall administration, financial affairs and operational activities.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic and operational leadership.

• Salary scale effective from 01 January 2027: Rs. 161,140 – Rs. 219,340.
• Government-approved allowances.
• Corporation-maintained official vehicle or allowance for use of an own vehicle, according to Circular No. PED 1/2015(i).
• Fuel allowance of 145 litres of diesel or petrol per month.

Personal Secretary, Training & Development Officer and Engineering Assistant – JM 1-1 Grade II

• 2026 starting salary point: Rs. 65,633.
• Salary scale effective from 01 January 2027: Rs. 72,650 – Rs. 122,970.
