Qualifications & Experience

1. Financial Controller

• Full qualification in ICASL (CA Sri Lanka), CIMA, or ACCA; in addition, a degree in the field of Finance or Accountancy is preferred; OR
• An officer holding the post of Accountant Grade II of the Sri Lanka Accountants’ Service with Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) / its equivalent, OR a Master’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance from a recognized University/HEI.
• Minimum of six (06) years of experience in a similar capacity. Candidates with exposure and experience in private higher educational institutes or the private sector service industry are preferred.
• Good knowledge of accounting packages (preferably QuickBooks), sound IT knowledge, exposure to computerized accounting environments, handling corporate tax, and experience in preparing financial accounts and budgets.

2. Senior Accounting Officer

• Part qualification in CA, ACCA, or CIMA, OR full qualification in AAT.
• B.Sc. / B.Com / BBM degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of two (02) years of experience in a reputed firm, institute, or government service.
• Candidates with good knowledge of accounting software, computerized accounting systems, corporate taxation, financial reporting, and budget preparation are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and monitor annual operational budgets, fiscal policies, and strategic financial plans.
• Oversee the end-to-end preparation of monthly and annual financial accounts, ledgers, and institutional balance sheets.
• Manage corporate taxation, ensuring accurate calculation, timely filing, and statutory compliance with tax regulations.
• Administer computerized accounting packages (QuickBooks) and enterprise financial reporting systems.
• Provide financial oversight across university college operations, tuition fees, examination funds, and departmental procurement.
• Supervise, guide, and develop accounting staff while maintaining high standards of reporting accuracy and internal controls.

Required Skills

• High proficiency in accounting software (particularly QuickBooks) and standard MS Office packages.
• Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems, Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (SLFRS/LKAS), and statutory corporate tax regulations.
• Excellent supervisory, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• High level of numerical accuracy, financial discipline, and attention to detail.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.
• Requirement to work on weekends (with two weekdays granted off in lieu).

Salary & Benefits

• Financial Controller: Attractive and negotiable salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
• Senior Accounting Officer: Monthly all-inclusive allowance of Rs. 85,300/- during the contract period.
• Statutory contributions: Member of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) in accordance with the relevant Acts.
• Appointment Terms:
  • Financial Controller: Permanent cadre for applicants below 60 years of age (subject to a 3-year probation period, extendable at the Council’s discretion); contract basis available for retired government/university officers.
  • Senior Accounting Officer: Initially a 1-year renewable contract, with eligibility for appointment to the permanent cadre (subject to a 3-year probation period) based on performance.
• Work Schedule: Working on weekends is essential, with two weekdays provided off in lieu.
