Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should satisfy the following requirements:
- Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Possess a certificate relevant to Welding issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the trade.
- Minimum of three (03) years of relevant work experience in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
- Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit is not applicable to applicants already serving in Government service.)
- Must successfully pass both the interview and practical test relevant to the post.
- Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Must possess excellent character.
- Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding on steel structures, machinery, and equipment.
- Carry out fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Follow occupational health and safety regulations during all welding operations.
- Assist with emergency maintenance and repair work within port facilities.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to complete assigned tasks.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in arc welding, gas welding, and metal fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety practices.
- Good troubleshooting and metal repair skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Code: 10.3 (SS3)
- Initial Salary Step: Rs. 35,845/=
- Annual Increment: Rs. 365/=
- Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 111,000/=
