Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should satisfy the following requirements:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
• Possess a certificate relevant to Welding issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the trade.
• Minimum of three (03) years of relevant work experience in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
• Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit is not applicable to applicants already serving in Government service.)
• Must successfully pass both the interview and practical test relevant to the post.
• Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties anywhere in Sri Lanka.
• Must possess excellent character.
• Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding on steel structures, machinery, and equipment.
• Carry out fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
• Inspect welded joints to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Follow occupational health and safety regulations during all welding operations.
• Assist with emergency maintenance and repair work within port facilities.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to complete assigned tasks.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in arc welding, gas welding, and metal fabrication techniques.
• Ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols.
• Strong knowledge of welding safety practices.
• Good troubleshooting and metal repair skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Code: 10.3 (SS3)
• Initial Salary Step: Rs. 35,845/=
• Annual Increment: Rs. 365/=
• Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 111,000/=
