Lead a Premier University to Excellence! The University of Sri Jayewardenepura invites applications for the prestigious post of Vice-Chancellor.

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a leading center of higher education in Sri Lanka, is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its Vice-Chancellor. This is a pivotal role for an accomplished academic and administrator capable of steering the university toward greater heights of academic and research excellence.

As the Principal Executive Officer and Principal Academic Officer, the Vice-Chancellor will play a defining role in shaping the future of the institution.

About the Role: Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor is a full-time Officer responsible for directing academic affairs, introducing management policies, and implementing the decisions of the Council. You will serve as the Chairman of both the Council and the Senate and act as the Accounting Officer of the University.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Uphold the principles of academic excellence, transparency, accountability, democratic management, and effective impartial leadership.

• Administration: Manage the administration of the University and ensure the effective implementation of Council decisions.

• Strategic Direction: Direct academic affairs and introduce innovative management policies.

Terms of Appointment:

• The Vice-Chancellor will hold office for a term of three (03) years or until he/she completes his/her sixty-fifth (65th) year, whichever occurs earlier.

Candidate Profile: Eligibility & Evaluation

Eligibility Criteria:

• Citizenship: Applicants should be citizens of Sri Lanka.

• Age Limit: Applicants shall be less than sixty-three (63) years of age by the closing date of the applications.

1. Prepare Your Application Documents:

   • Statement of Vision: A statement of Vision for the development of the University.

   • Proposal: A brief account of what the applicant proposes to achieve if appointed.

   • Curriculum Vitae: A full CV including the date of birth.

   • Employer Letter: A letter from the employer indicating whether the applicant could be released in the event of an appointment (for applicants in Public Service, Corporations, Statutory Bodies, or Higher Educational Institutions).

3. Presentation:

   • Applicants shall be summoned before a Special Council meeting for a brief presentation of a minimum of ten (10) minutes (not exceeding fifteen (15) minutes) to elicit further information on their vision and suitability.
