Independent Television Network Ltd (ITN) is a premier state-owned media network in Sri Lanka, operating two television channels (ITN and Vasantham TV) and two radio channels (Lakhanda and Vasantham FM), serving Sinhala- and Tamil-speaking communities across the country. ITN also operates ITN Digital, its platform for social media activities, the ITN MAX OTT streaming platform, and the MMC-ITN Campus focusing on digital education and media training.
Qualifications & Experience
Transport Officer – JM 1-1 (Non Executive)
External Candidates
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering / Business Administration / Public Administration / Business Management / Physical Science / Logistic Management recognised by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka
- OR A certificate of proficiency not below NVQ Level 7 in the relevant field, issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission
- OR a certificate of proficiency not below NVQ Level 6 in the relevant field with five (05) years of post-qualifying experience in the relevant field in a corporation, board or reputed institution
- OR a certificate of proficiency not below NVQ Level 5 in the relevant field with ten (10) years of post-qualifying experience in the relevant field in a corporation, board or reputed institution
Internal Candidates
- Having obtained the qualifications required of external candidates above
- OR completion of a minimum of five (05) years of satisfactory service in a post of Management Assistant – Non Technological (MA 1-2) Grade II, in the subject area relevant to the post at ITN
Age Limit: Not less than 22 years and not more than 45 years.
Driver – PL-3 (Non Executive)
External Candidates
- Passed a minimum of six (06) subjects in the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in not more than two sittings with a minimum of two credit passes
- AND a licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic for driving heavy vehicles, with a minimum of three (03) years of experience in driving after obtaining the heavy vehicle driving licence
Internal Candidates
- A heavy vehicle driving licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic with a minimum of three (03) years of experience in driving after obtaining it
- AND completion of a minimum of five (05) years of satisfactory service in a post in the category of Primary Semi Skilled (PL2) or Primary Unskilled (PL1)
Age Limit: Not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport Officer: plan and manage the ITN vehicle fleet, maintenance schedules and fuel records
- Transport Officer: allocate vehicles and drivers for news, production and official duties
- Driver: drive ITN vehicles safely for official, news and production assignments
- Driver: carry out routine vehicle checks and keep vehicles clean and roadworthy
- Maintain trip logs and report vehicle issues promptly
Required Skills
- Knowledge of vehicle operation, maintenance and road rules
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills (Transport Officer)
- Safe and responsible driving record (Driver)
- Punctuality, reliability and teamwork
Salary & Benefits
- Transport Officer (JM 1-1 (Non Executive)): Rs. 72,650 – 10×1,360 – 18×2,040 – 122,970 per month
- Driver (PL-3 (Non Executive)): Rs. 43,280 – 10×490 – 10×540 – 10×590 – 12×630 – 67,040 per month
- Cost of living allowance as approved by the Government
- Monthly attendance incentive allowance as per company regulations
- 24-hour insurance coverage for accidents
- Provident Fund contribution of 10% by employee and 15% by employer
- 3% contribution to the ETF by employer
Until 1 January 2027, remuneration for all recruitments and promotions will be in line with Schedule II of the Management Services Circular No. 01/2025.
