Job Overview

The University of Moratuwa is inviting applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the position of Tractor Operator (Grade III). The successful candidate will be responsible for operating tractors and related equipment to support the University’s operational and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and related machinery safely and efficiently.
• Perform land maintenance, transportation, and other operational tasks assigned by the University.
• Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain records related to equipment usage and maintenance.
• Carry out duties assigned by the University administration.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must satisfy either of the following qualifications:

Option 1

• Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in six (06) subjects, with at least two (02) Credit passes, in not more than two sittings.
• Possess a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) issued by a Technical or Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), relevant to the duties of the post.

OR

Option 2

• Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in six (06) subjects, with at least two (02) Credit passes, in not more than two sittings.
• Minimum one (01) year of working experience in a relevant industrial field.

Age Requirements

Applicants should be:

• Not less than 18 years of age.
• Not more than 45 years of age.

Other Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post and serve in any part of the island if required.
• Possess excellent moral character.
• Hold a valid G1 category driving licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale:

U-PL 2 (III): Rs. 44,575 – 16 × 490 – 52,415 per month

In addition to the basic salary, selected candidates will receive:

• Cost of Living Allowance.
• Other approved government allowances.
• Government employment benefits.
• Stable career within a leading state university.

Selection will be based on:

• Trade Test.
• Structured Interview.
