Job Description
Tea Inspector / Extension Officer – Tea Small Holdings Development Authority
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the post of Tea Inspector / Extension Officer at the Tea Small Holdings Development Authority under the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.
Educational & Professional Qualifications:

External & Internal Applicants: Must have obtained an NVQ Proficiency Certificate not below Level Five (NVQ 5) issued by a technical/vocational training institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission in Agriculture, Plantation Management, or Plantation Extension Management.
Age Limit & General Conditions:

Age Limit: Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years. (Note: The maximum age limit will not apply to internal applicants).

Nature of Appointment: Permanent with entitlement to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF). The employee will contribute 10% to the EPF, while the Authority will contribute 15% to the EPF and 3% to the ETF.
Salary Details:

Service Category: Management Assistant (Technological) Service Category MA 2-2 – III.

Monthly Salary Scale: Rs. 30,310 – 10 x 300 – 7 x 350 – 4 x 600 – 20 x 710 = Rs. 52,360/- (As per Management Services Circular No. 02/2016). Government-approved allowances will be paid in addition to this salary.
Method of Recruitment: Recruitment will be made based on the results of a Written Competitive Examination and a Structured Interview conducted by a Board of Interviewers. Final selection will be based on a combination of 70% of the total marks from the written exam and 30% from the structured interview.

Written Examination: * Paper I (1 Hour): General Knowledge, Intelligence Test, Agricultural Theory, Tea Technology, and matters concerning the tea industry (50 Multiple Choice Questions).

Paper II (1 ½ Hours): Fundamentals of Agriculture, matters concerning the tea divisions, tea industry, technology, agriculture extension, and communication (Short answer and essay-type questions).

Candidates must secure at least 40% for each paper and a minimum average of 50% to pass.

Structured Interview: * Marks are allocated for Relevant Additional Qualifications (20 marks), Relevant Additional Educational/Professional Qualifications (30 marks), Other Work Performance (15 marks), and Skills shown at the interview (35 marks).
