Job Description 

Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Sport Officer (Grade III) in the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Public Service.

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Public Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates (permanent residents of the Sabaragamuwa Province) for the open competitive examination to recruit for the vacant post of Sport Officer (Grade III).

Salary Scale

• MT-01 – 2016: Rs. 29,840 – 10×300 – 11×350 – 10×560 – 10×660 – Rs. 48,890 (Monthly).

• You will be placed at the initial step of this salary scale.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Age Limit: Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years as of the closing date (24.02.2025).

• Residency: Must be a permanent resident of the Sabaragamuwa Province for at least 03 years immediately preceding the closing date.

• Character: Must be of excellent moral character.

Educational Qualifications

• G.C.E. (O/L): Passed in 06 subjects with at least 04 Credit passes including Sinhala/Tamil/English Language and Mathematics in one sitting.

• G.C.E. (A/L): Passed in 03 subjects in one sitting.

Professional (Sports) Qualifications

Candidates must fulfil at least one of the following:

1. National Team: Represented Sri Lanka as a member of a National Team in a specific sport.

2. National Victory: Won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a National Sports Festival or National Championship organized by the Ministry of Sports or a National Sports Association.

3. Provincial Victory: Won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a Provincial Sports Festival organized by a Provincial Ministry of Sports.

4. Sports School: Won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a National School Sports Festival organized by the Ministry of Education.

5. Diploma: Completed a one-year Diploma in Sports Science from a recognized university or institute.

Physical Requirements

• Body Mass Index (BMI): Must be between 18.5 and 24.9.

• Height:

  • Male: Minimum 5 feet 4 inches.

  • Female: Minimum 5 feet 0 inches.

• Chest (Male): Minimum 32 inches (unexpanded).

Examination Details

Recruitment involves a written examination (40%) and a structured interview (60%).

1. Aptitude Test: (1 hour, 100 marks) – Multiple choice questions testing logical reasoning and general intelligence.

2. General Knowledge: (1 hour, 100 marks) – Questions on sports history, rules, health science, and general trends in Sri Lanka and abroad.

• Candidates must score at least 40% in each paper to pass.
