The Right to Information Commission (RTI Commission) is an independent statutory body established to uphold the Right to Information Act in Sri Lanka. The Commission ensures transparency in public administration and strengthens citizens’ access to government information through legal, administrative, and research-based functions.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following external qualification pathways:

• Bachelor’s Special Degree in Social Sciences, Journalism, or Law (UGC recognized) with a Master’s Degree in a relevant research field AND at least 08 years of research experience in a government or recognized institution
  OR
• PhD in a relevant field with a Bachelor’s Special Degree in Social Sciences, Journalism, or Law AND at least 05 years of research experience in a government or recognized institution

Age Limit:

• Minimum 30 years and maximum 55 years
• No upper age limit for internal applicants

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analytical studies related to Right to Information functions
• Prepare reports, policy briefs, and research documentation for the Commission
• Support monitoring and evaluation of RTI implementation activities
• Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation for decision-making
• Contribute to institutional research initiatives and publications
• Support evidence-based policy development and transparency initiatives
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for research activities

Required Skills

• Strong research and analytical thinking abilities
• Excellent report writing and documentation skills
• Knowledge of social sciences, law, or journalism-related research methods
• Ability to handle data analysis and interpret findings effectively
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and in a research team environment
• Attention to detail and academic rigor

• Salary Scale: AR 2 – 2025 (Rs. 133,220 – 169,220)
