Job Overview
The Right to Information Commission of Sri Lanka, established under the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016, is inviting applications for the position of Research Officer. This role supports research activities, data analysis, policy development support, and documentation work to strengthen transparency and the implementation of the Right to Information framework in Sri Lanka.

The Right to Information Commission (RTI Commission) is an independent statutory body established under the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016. The Commission ensures transparency, accountability, and public access to information by implementing and monitoring RTI laws across Sri Lanka.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s Special Degree in Social Sciences or Law (UGC recognized)
OR - Bachelor’s General Degree in Social Sciences or Law (UGC recognized) + Postgraduate Diploma with a research component
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 22 years
- Maximum age: 45 years
- No upper age limit for internal applicants
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and support policy development activities
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Prepare research reports and documentation for the Commission
- Support monitoring and evaluation of RTI implementation
- Assist in preparing briefs and analytical reports for decision-making
- Contribute to transparency and governance-related research activities
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders
Required Skills
- Strong research and analytical abilities
- Good report writing and documentation skills
- Knowledge of social sciences or legal research methods
- Ability to work with data and interpret findings
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Ability to work independently and in teams
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Scale: AR 1 – 2025 (Rs. 91,650 – 168,200)
