Join the Department of National Archives! Applications are invited for the post of Plumber.

The Department of National Archives invites applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the recruitment of a Plumber (Grade III) in the Primary – Semi-Skilled Service Category (PL3). This is a permanent position with pension entitlement, subject to a three-year probation period.

About the Role

The selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the department’s water supply systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance: Maintaining the department’s plumbing system.

• Repairs: Attending to sudden water leaks and applying appropriate remedies.

• Branch Duties: Carrying out plumbing repairs and maintenance in branch offices.

• Other Duties: Performing other duties assigned by the Supervising Officer / Administrative Officer / Deputy or Assistant Director / Director (Administration) or the Director General.

Remuneration

• Salary Scale: PL 03 – 2025 (Rs. 42,780 – 10 x 490 – 10 x 540 – 10 x 590 – 12 x 630 – 66,540/-).

• Starting Salary: The starting salary step is Rs. 42,780.00.

• Allowances: Entitled to other allowances paid by the government from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

• Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.

• Note: Educational qualifications are not applicable for applicants who have obtained NVQ Level 03 proficiency in the relevant field.

Professional Qualifications:

• Should have obtained a proficiency certificate of not less than National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level Four (04) issued by a technical/vocational training institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission in the field of Plumbing.

Age Limit:

• Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years as at the closing date of applications.

Other Requirements:

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Must be of excellent moral character.

• Must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of the island.

Method of Recruitment

Recruitment will be made based on a Trade Test and a Structured Interview.

• Trade Test: Tests knowledge of materials, tool usage, ability to read plans, and understanding of joints (Total 100 Marks, Pass Mark 40%).

• Interview: Marks awarded for additional educational qualifications, experience (Govt/Private sector), additional courses (AutoCAD, Technical Drawing, etc.), and performance at the interview.
