Job Description
Officer in Charge – National Secretariat for Elders
Applications are invited from qualified applicants for the post of Officer in Charge at the Kataragama Elders Home under the National Secretariat for Elders, Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment.
Educational & Professional Qualifications:

External Applicants:
-
Should have obtained a degree in Social Science, Commerce, Business Management, or an Arts degree recognized by the University Grants Commission.

Internal Applicants (Option 1 or 2 below):

Should have fulfilled the educational qualifications mentioned above for external applicants.

Should have completed a satisfactory service period of a minimum of five (05) years in the post of Elders Entitlement Promotion Officer (MA3).

Age Limit & General Conditions:
-
Age Limit: Should not be less than 22 years and not more than 45 years. (Note: The maximum age limit will not be applicable to internal applicants).

General Conditions: * Every applicant should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

Should be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties entrusted to the post and to serve.

Should bear an excellent moral character.

Legal Compliance: Appointees should be subjected to the provisions of the Protection of Rights of Elders Act No. 09 of 2000 and the Protection of Rights of Elders (Amendment) Act No. 05 of 2011, and Rules and regulations imposed by the Government from time to time.
Salary Details & Nature of Appointment:
-
Nature of Appointment: Permanent with entitlement to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF).

Monthly Salary (JM 1-1 2025): Rs. 72,650 – 10 x 1,360 – 18 x 2,040 = 122,970. (As per Management Services Circular No. 01/2025 dated 25.03.2025).
Method of Recruitment:

Will be recruited after selection based on the results of a structured interview conducted by a Board of Interviewers appointed by the competent authority.
