Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Possess a certificate relevant to Marine Fitting issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the trade.
- Minimum of three (03) years of relevant work experience in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
- Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit does not apply to applicants currently serving in Government service.)
- Must successfully complete the interview and practical test relevant to the post.
- Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Must possess excellent character.
- Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out marine fitting and mechanical maintenance work.
- Repair, assemble, and install marine equipment and components.
- Inspect machinery and identify mechanical defects.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure operational reliability.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and engineering standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Assist with emergency repair work when required.
- Work effectively as part of the port engineering team.
Required Skills
- Marine fitting and mechanical repair knowledge.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Practical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.

Salary & Benefits
- Salary Code: 10.3 (SS3)
- Initial Salary Step: Rs. 35,845/=
- Annual Increment: Rs. 365/=
- Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 111,000/=
