Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
• Possess a certificate relevant to Marine Fitting issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the trade.
• Minimum of three (03) years of relevant work experience in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
• Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit does not apply to applicants currently serving in Government service.)
• Must successfully complete the interview and practical test relevant to the post.
• Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties anywhere in Sri Lanka.
• Must possess excellent character.
• Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out marine fitting and mechanical maintenance work.
• Repair, assemble, and install marine equipment and components.
• Inspect machinery and identify mechanical defects.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure operational reliability.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and engineering standards.
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
• Assist with emergency repair work when required.
• Work effectively as part of the port engineering team.

Required Skills

• Marine fitting and mechanical repair knowledge.
