Job Description

Legal Officer (Grade III) – National Police Commission

The National Police Commission is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens to fill the vacancy for the post of Legal Officer (Grade III) of the Executive Service Category. The successful candidate will be recruited based on the results of a competency assessment interview.

Required Qualifications:

• Professional Qualification: Must have been sworn in as an Attorney-At-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

• Experience:

  • Acquired not less than three (03) years of active professional experience after being sworn in as an Attorney-At-Law.

  • OR

  • Having gained not less than 03 years of experience in a legal field position in a state institution (where the basic qualification for recruitment was a Law Degree or Attorney-At-Law).

• Age Limit: Should be not less than 21 years and not more than 45 years as at the closing date.

• Other Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

  • Must be of excellent character.

  • Must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.

Remuneration & Benefits:

• Salary Scale: Rs. 82,150 – 10×2,400 – 8×2,940 – 17×3,900 – Rs. 195,970 (SL I-2025).

• Allowances: An incentive allowance of 1/5 of the basic salary is paid to officers of the National Police Commission.

• Service Conditions: The post is permanent and pensionable (subject to government policy decisions).

1. Application Format: Prepare the application on A4 size paper according to the specimen form provided in the notification.

   • The form should be filled in the applicant’s own handwriting.

2. Certification: The applicant’s signature must be certified by a Justice of Peace, Attorney-At-Law, Notary Public, Principal, or a Government Officer.

3. Submission: Applications should be sent by Registered Post to the address below.

4. Envelope Marking: The top left-hand corner of the envelope must be marked: “Application for the Post of Legal Officer of the National Police Commission Grade (III)- 2026”.

5. Closing Date: Applications must reach the Secretary on or before 09.03.2026.
