Job Description

Legal Officer (Reservist Assistant Superintendent of Police) – Sri Lanka Police

Applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for recruitment on a temporary basis to the post of Reservist Assistant Superintendent of Police (Legal Officer) in the Sri Lanka Police.

Educational & Professional Qualifications:

• Must be sworn in as an attorney at the Supreme Court.

• Must have at least three (03) years of active professional experience as an attorney in a criminal court after being sworn in.

• OR After being sworn in, must have at least three (03) years of experience in the legal field relating to at least two (02) of the following tasks:

  • Legal proceedings related to cases and coordination with the Attorney General’s Department.

  • Legal matters related to agreements.

  • Preparation of legal documents pertaining to various ordinances, circulars, and regulations.

  • Legal proceedings or investigative tasks conducted by various statutory institutions.

Age Limit & General Conditions:

• Age Limit: Minimum Age – 25 years | Maximum Age – 45 years.

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with an expected outstanding character.

• Must be willing to serve in any area of the country.

• Any married or unmarried person can apply for this post.

• Terms of Service: Recruited lawyers shall be assigned to specific duties for a maximum period of 5 years. This temporary appointment will be terminated after the completion of those duties or at the end of the tenure.

Salary & Allowances (For 2026):

• Monthly Allowance: Rs. 74,438.00

• Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800.00

• Food & Accommodation Allowance: Rs. 34,800.00

• Additional allowances include a 22% allowance (Rs. 16,376.36), Special Allowance (Rs. 1,250), Difficult Reward (Rs. 2,000), Telephone Allowance, and an Executive Allowance (Rs. 3,000).

• Transport: Entitled to receive an official vehicle. If a personal vehicle is used, an allowance of Rs. 50,000 and an allowance equivalent to the value of 250 liters of fuel will be provided.
