Position Details

The General Manager will be responsible for providing senior-level management and leadership to Elkaduwa Plantations Limited. The position requires extensive managerial experience and the ability to serve in any part of the country.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor’s Degree from a university recognized by the UGC.
• A postgraduate qualification, such as a Master’s in Management, or corporate membership of a recognized professional institution in Management.
• 20 years of experience after obtaining the first degree at managerial level.
• Out of the above experience, at least 5 years should be at Senior Managerial Level.
• Proven track record in a Government or private-sector mercantile institution.

Internal Candidates

• A minimum of 3 years of satisfactory service in the Senior Manager category in the post of Deputy General Manager.

• Provide overall leadership and management of the organization.
• Direct and coordinate organizational operations at senior managerial level.
• Ensure effective implementation of management strategies and organizational objectives.
• Lead teams and promote efficient performance across the organization.
• Make strategic decisions in accordance with the organization’s goals and policies.
• Ensure effective utilization of organizational resources.
• Maintain strong professional and managerial standards.
• Serve in any part of the country as required by the organization.

Salary & Benefits

The advertised salary scale is:

Rs. 161,140 – Rs. 219,340
Increment: 12 × Rs. 4,850

The basic salary step is Rs. 140,317, according to Schedule II of Management Services Circular No. 01/2025.

The appointment is permanent, with entitlement to:

• Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF)
• Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF)

Recruitment Procedure

Recruitment will be based on the results of a Structural Interview conducted by a panel appointed by the appointing authority.

The Structural Interview carries a total of 100 marks, allocated as follows:

• Relevant additional experience – 30 marks
• Relevant additional qualification – 30 marks
• Other achievements – 15 marks
• Performance at the interview – 25 marks

Age Limit

• Applicants should be not less than 40 years of age.
• Applicants should be not more than 55 years of age.
• The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates.
