Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
• Possess a certificate relevant to Diesel Fitting issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the trade.
• Minimum of three (03) years of relevant work experience in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
• Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit does not apply to applicants already serving in Government service.)
• Must successfully pass both the interview and practical test relevant to the position.
• Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties assigned anywhere in Sri Lanka.
• Must possess excellent character.
• Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and related mechanical systems.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered machinery.
• Replace defective engine components and perform overhauls when required.
• Conduct routine servicing to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain maintenance records and report equipment issues.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and engineering standards.
• Assist with emergency mechanical repairs during port operations.
• Work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance teams.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and mechanical equipment.
• Practical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to read technical manuals and engineering drawings.
