Job Overview

The Audit Service Commission is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for one (01) vacancy for the post of Deputy Auditor General in the Special Grade of the Senior Executive Service Category of the Sri Lanka State Audit Service under the Direct Recruitment Stream – 2026. Recruitment will be based on a structured interview.

Salary

• Salary Scale: Rs. 165,700 – 223,900
• Salary Code: AS 04 – 2025
• Additional government-approved allowances will also be paid.
• The appointment is permanent and pensionable, subject to contributions to the Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension Scheme / Widowers’ and Orphans’ Pension Scheme.

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• A Postgraduate Degree in one of the following or a related field:
  • Accountancy
  • Audit
  • Commerce
  • Public Finance
  • Economics
  • Management
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Information Technology

The degree must be awarded by a university or institute recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Professional Qualifications

Applicants must hold Associate Membership of either:

• The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), or
• The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA – UK).

Experience

Applicants must have:

• External Applicants: Minimum 12 years of executive-level experience in the relevant field after obtaining the required professional qualification.

OR

• Applicants already in the Sri Lanka State Audit Service: Minimum 12 years of executive-level service experience.

Age Limit

Applicants should be:

• Not more than 45 years as of 20 July 2026
• Officers currently serving in the Public Service are exempt from the upper age limit.

Other Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Possess excellent moral character.
• Not be a member of the clergy.
• Be physically and mentally fit to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.

Recruitment Process

Selection will be through a Structured Interview.

Marks will be awarded as follows:

Probation & Service Conditions

• Probation Period: 3 years
• Public officers appointed to this post may be subject to a 1-year probation, depending on previous service.
• Officers must pass the prescribed Efficiency Bar Examination within 3 years.
• Officers are also required to obtain the prescribed second official language proficiency in accordance with Public Administration Circular 18/2020.
