Action Unity Lanka (AU Lanka), a leading non-profit and non-governmental organization in Sri Lanka, is inviting applications from qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill the position of Consultant (CCAIR – Community-led Climate Adaptation for Island Resilience Project) in Batticaloa District.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and community-led adaptation initiatives while working closely with government and non-government stakeholders.

📝 Job Description

The Consultant (CCAIR) will provide technical guidance in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Community-led Climate Adaptation for Island Resilience Project. The consultant will support project teams, build capacity of staff and beneficiaries, and coordinate with relevant government institutions and stakeholders on technical matters related to climate-smart agriculture and climate resilience.


🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance in planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities
  • Support capacity building of project staff and community beneficiaries
  • Coordinate with government institutions and key stakeholders on technical aspects
  • Provide expert input on climate-smart agriculture, climate adaptation, and resilience strategies
  • Ensure effective implementation of community-led climate adaptation approaches
  • Support reporting, documentation, and knowledge sharing activities

🎓 Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Agriculture
  • Preference will be given to candidates with professional qualifications in Climate Change / Environmental Studies
  • Professional qualification in Project Management is an added advantage

🧠 Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing climate-smart agriculture projects
  • Experience in agriculture projects focusing on climate adaptation and resilience is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of national and sub-national climate change issues

💡 Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Sound knowledge of environmental and climate change concepts, policies, and practices
  • Proficiency in ICT and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to support planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes

🗣 Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Tamil
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with communities, government stakeholders, and NGOs
  • Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social, and political contexts

🚗 Additional Requirements

  • A valid riding license will be an added advantage
  • Willingness to travel within the project area when required

💰 Remuneration

  • Attractive consultancy remuneration, based on qualifications and experience
